Understand Your Skin Types
Dehydrated Skin
How do I know if I have dehydrated skin?
Normal skin types produce a well-balanced ratio of water: oil, allowing the skin the retain water naturally without losing moisture which in turns signals to the skin that there is no requirement for producing more oil to retain moisture. In dehydrated skin types, the skin lacks so much moisture that it panics and produces more oil as a form of coping mechanism to retain whatever moisture remaining in the skin.
What should dehydrated skin types look out for?
Avoid mattifying the skin or constantly stripping the skin of excess oil. While focusing on providing the skin with hydrating and water-binding ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acids, avoid using only oil-free products. Instead look out for lightweight moisturizers with a slightly greasy feel. This not only helps to lock in moisture during the skin preparation phase but also coaxes the skin to feel more assured and produce less oil.
